NEW YORK (Legal Newsline) – For a second time, a jury has convicted former New York State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver of corruption for using his status as a lawmaker and asbestos attorney to rake in millions of dollars.
NEW YORK (Legal Newsline) - Johnson & Johnson, fresh from losing a $117 million asbestos verdict in New Jersey, is opposing plaintiff lawyers who are trying to obtain punitive damages against it in a specialized New York court for asbestos lawsuits.
The order, released in June, holds, among other things, that punitive damages awards are no longer deferred for cases placed on the trial calendar after the CMO’s effective date.
