California asks DeVos: Don't exempt student loan servicers from state law enforcement

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Legal Newsline) — California Attorney General Xavier Becerra announced Oct. 24 that he has joined a coalition of attorneys general in a letter to U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, urging her to reject attempts by student loan servicers to secure immunity from enforcement and oversight.

California receives $29 million in multi-state settlement with Deutsche Bank

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Legal Newsline) — California Attorney General Xavier Becerra announced Oct. 25 that Deutsche Bank will pay $220 million in a multi-state settlement after allegations of fraudulent manipulation of the London Interbank Offered Rate (LIBOR). California will receive about $29 million of the settlement funds.
