The Southeast Nebraska Adult Drug Court will hold a graduation ceremony on January 27, 2025, at the Saline County District Courtroom in Wilber, Nebraska. The event, presided over by Judge David Bargen, is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
This ceremony celebrates individuals who have completed an intensive program that combines behavioral health treatment with community supervision and accountability. These problem-solving courts offer an alternative path for nonviolent drug offenders within the criminal justice system. The aim is to reduce recidivism and substance use through a specialized team process that functions within the existing court structure.
The courts employ validated risk and need assessments, early and individualized treatment plans, frequent chemical testing, and various incentives and sanctions. This approach seeks to protect public safety while increasing participants' chances of successful rehabilitation.
For further details or interviews, Chris Reece, the Adult Drug Court Coordinator, can be contacted at (402) 821-7114. Additional information is also available on the Problem-Solving Court webpage.
Nebraska's judicial power is distributed among several courts as outlined by the state's Constitution. These include the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, district courts, county courts, separate juvenile courts in specific counties, and a statewide Workers’ Compensation Court.
