Three additional Colorado Judicial Districts are set to host Free Legal Resource Day events during the week of October 21, 2024. Residents in the 3rd, 8th, and 17th Judicial Districts will have access to educational seminars and Ask-An-Attorney sessions in Trinidad, Fort Collins, and Brighton.

The initiative by the Judicial Department aims to support self-represented litigants by providing necessary information and education for legal proceedings related to evictions, family law, sealing criminal cases, small claims, and other matters. These events feature volunteer lawyers offering free informational sessions.

Session times and topics vary by location. Spanish interpreters will be present at all sessions which are free of charge. Some sessions require registration.

In the 3rd Judicial District covering Huerfano and Las Animas counties, a community event is scheduled for Thursday, October 24, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Space to Create in Trinidad. Participants can arrange one-on-one appointments with volunteer attorneys or attend seminars on foreclosures and family law. Free consultations can be booked by calling specified numbers.

For residents in the 8th Judicial District encompassing Jackson and Larimer counties, free Ask-A-Lawyer sessions are available on Friday, October 25 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., either in-person or virtually at Larimer County Justice Center in Fort Collins. Registration is required for these sessions.

In the 17th Judicial District covering Adams and Broomfield counties, an event is planned for Thursday, October 24 at Adams County Justice Center in Brighton from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and again from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. Meet-A-Lawyer sessions will address various legal issues including domestic relations and traffic matters on a first-come basis.
