The Southeast Nebraska Adult Drug Court is set to hold a graduation and celebration event on March 11, 2025. The ceremony will take place at the Nemaha County District Courtroom in Auburn, Nebraska, starting at 11:15 a.m. Judge Richard Smith will preside over the event.
This graduation marks the completion of an intensive program for participants involved in problem-solving courts. These courts offer an alternative path through the criminal justice system for nonviolent drug-related offenders. The program involves comprehensive behavioral health treatment, community supervision, and accountability measures aimed at reducing recidivism and substance use among individuals with substance use disorders.
The court's process includes validated risk and need assessments, early and individualized behavioral health treatment, frequent chemical testing, as well as incentives and sanctions to encourage rehabilitation. This approach aims to protect public safety while increasing the chances of successful rehabilitation for participants.
For those interested in more information or interviews regarding the event, Chris Reece, the Adult Drug Court Coordinator, can be contacted at (402) 821-7114. Media credentials are preferred for coverage of this event.
