The Ralph L. Carr Judicial Center office tower in Denver is set to reopen on October 8, 2024, following extensive repairs after a fire and water damage incident earlier this year. The building suffered significant damage on January 2, 2024, when a fire was ignited on the seventh floor, activating sprinklers that ran for two hours and left substantial water damage.

Efforts over the past ten months have focused on mitigating water damage and conducting industrial hygienic cleaning due to smoke circulation throughout the building's HVAC system. During this initial reopening phase, public access will be granted to floors one and two from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., while access to floors eight through twelve will require an appointment.

Floors three through seven remain closed as reconstruction continues. Full restoration of these areas is expected by summer 2025. Chief Justice Monica M. Márquez commented on the significance of the reopening: “The Ralph L. Carr Judicial Center is an important symbol in our legal community- it is the hub of activity for a number of agencies critical to our judicial system. Its partial reopening marks a significant milestone in the recovery process from the devastating events that severely damaged the tower complex earlier this year.” She added that "a dedicated team has worked tirelessly for many months to ensure that employees can safely return to their workspaces."

Visitors are assured of a professional and secure environment upon their return. Additional details regarding the reopening can be found at coloradojudicial.gov.
