The Prince George’s County District Court Adult Drug Court is set to hold a graduation ceremony on August 15, where Dr. Lonise Bias will address the new graduates. The event will take place at 1 p.m. in Courtroom 264B of the Prince George’s County District Court located at 14735 Main Street, Upper Marlboro.

Dr. Bias is the mother of Len Bias, a University of Maryland basketball star and Boston Celtics draft pick who died from a drug overdose in 1986. His death had a significant impact nationwide.

Judge Joseph L. Wright, coordinating judge for the District Court’s Adult Drug Court, expressed appreciation for Dr. Bias's participation: “We are honored to have Dr. Bias share her story with our graduates and their families.” He emphasized that even after three decades, her message remains crucial and meaningful for those attending.

The ceremony will be open to the public; however, only graduates' families are permitted to use cameras or recording devices during the event.
