Saunders County will host a graduation ceremony for its problem-solving court. The event, presided over by Judge Tina Marroquin, is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. It will take place in the Saunders County Courtroom at 433 N. Chestnut Street, Wahoo, NE 68055.
The ceremony marks the completion of a rigorous program for the graduates, designed to aid nonviolent, drug-related offenders through an alternative path in the criminal justice system focused on behavioral health treatment and community supervision. Problem-solving courts aim to reduce recidivism and assist individuals in overcoming substance use disorders. The approach involves a specialized team process within the court structure, offering validated risk assessments, health treatment, frequent testing, incentives, and sanctions to promote rehabilitation.
The Nebraska judicial system, directed by the state Supreme Court, administers these courts alongside other judicial branches, including juvenile and workers' compensation courts.
