Alleged Sinaloa Cartel leader and lead assassin, Néstor Isidro Pérez Salas, also known as El Nini, 32, was extradited from Mexico to the United States on May 25 to face charges contained in two indictments.

Dorothy Howard remembered for dedication to family and community
Dorothy Howard, a dedicated servant to her family and community, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 15, 2024, in Eagan, MN. Born in Killdeer, ND in 1948, Dorothy met her husband, John Howard, while attending college in Bismarck. Their journey then led them to Fargo, North Dakota, where she raised two children and served for over 30 years at the Cass County Courthouse, most of that time in the elected position of Clerk of Court.
The Buckeye Institute appeals against D.C.'s pandemic-era emergency orders
On Friday, The Buckeye Institute filed its appeal and a request for oral arguments in Flannery v. D.C. Department of Health with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. The Buckeye Institute’s client, Eric Flannery, is challenging D.C. Council’s and Mayor Muriel Bowser’s pandemic-era emergency acts and orders, which led to the closure of The Big Board, a neighborhood bar and grill owned by Mr. Flannery.
Wilmington man pleads guilty in cold case murder
A Wilmington man has been convicted in a nearly four-year-long cold case. On May 15, Dashawn Daley, 29, of Wilmington pleaded guilty to Murder 2nd Degree and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. This conviction follows an investigation into the fatal 2019 shooting of then 29-year-old Hakeem Smalls.

Wisconsin leads nation in spring drug take back event
The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) announced that Wisconsin ranked first in the nation for the most prescription medications collected during the spring 2024 Drug Take Back event. A correction to the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) data revealed that Wisconsin collected a total of 55,122 pounds of unwanted medications, surpassing previous reports which placed the state second.
