Student debriefing sessions led by Supreme Court Chief Commissioner Daniel C. Brubaker will be held before and after oral arguments. There will also be a community activity led by the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Drummers.

LANSING, MI, September 10, 2024 – The Michigan Supreme Court (MSC) has issued a resolution marking September 11-17 as Michigan Patriot Week. Co-founded in 2009 by Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Michael Warren and his daughter, Leah, Patriot Week takes place within the anchor dates of September 11 (anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks) and September 17 (Constitution Day).

The State Court Administrative Office (SCAO) has appointed Kristina M. Morgan as its new Behavioral Health Administrator, effective September 30, 2024. This newly created position was suggested by the Michigan Judicial Council Behavioral Health Workgroup and funded with support from the executive and legislative branches.

LANSING, MI, July 24, 2024 – The state budget signed today by the Governor allocates over $17.5 million in new funding to the Michigan judiciary for the next fiscal year (October 1, 2024 – September 30, 2025), along with limited additional funding for the remainder of this fiscal year. This budget aims to enhance efficiency through a statewide case management system and improve the safety of Michigan jurists.

LANSING, MI, June 13, 2024 – For the third consecutive year, the State Court Administrative Office (SCAO) is accepting applications for its legal self-help center grant program. The program will disburse $500,000 appropriated by the state legislature for Fiscal Year 2025 to expand legal self-help center services across Michigan. The application period ends on July 14.

The Michigan Supreme Court (MSC) will convene a special session to hear oral arguments in the cases of Philip O’Halloran, MD, v Secretary of State, and Richard Devisser v Secretary of State on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. The session will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will be conducted via Zoom. The proceedings will be livestreamed on the MSC YouTube Channel.
