The United States Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of Alabama is commemorating National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW) from April 6 to 12, 2025. In recognition of the week, the office will participate in the Victim Vigil and Information Fair at the Mobile Government Plaza Atrium on April 10 at 6:00 p.m.

The theme for this year’s NCVRW, "Connecting-Kinship-Healing," encourages the formation of connections between victims, survivors, law enforcement, advocates, and communities. The week highlights the importance of removing barriers to justice and ensuring that no victim or survivor is left unsupported.

“Crime Victims’ Rights Week serves as a reminder to all of us working in the public safety and criminal justice systems why we serve our communities,” said United States Attorney Sean P. Costello. “This year’s 44th NCVRW marks decades of progress in improving the legal standing of crime victims and expanding their access to services.”

NCVRW, which started in 1981, was established to honor victims and survivors of crime, raise awareness of victims' rights and services, and acknowledge the dedication of those working with crime victims.

The upcoming event is open to the public and media.
