Semaj Markes Leondre Figg, a 33-year-old resident of Huntington, West Virginia, has pleaded guilty to federal drug charges involving fentanyl and cocaine base, commonly known as crack. The plea was entered in court today.
The case dates back to February 9, 2024, when law enforcement officers responded to a report of gunfire at an 11th Avenue residence in Huntington. Upon arrival, they encountered Figg and arrested him on an outstanding warrant. A subsequent search of the premises led to the seizure of approximately 30 grams of crack, 54 grams of fentanyl, a Glock 22C pistol, and a Ruger-5.7 pistol. Figg admitted his intention to distribute the controlled substances found during the search.
Figg is scheduled for sentencing on July 7, 2025. He faces up to 20 years in prison, a minimum of three years supervised release, and a fine that could reach $1 million.
Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston praised the efforts of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) along with the Huntington Police Department for their work on this case.
United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers presided over the proceedings while Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie Taylor is handling prosecution duties.
This legal action is part of Operation Synthetic Opioid Surge (SOS), which aims to curtail the distribution of lethal synthetic opioids in regions severely affected by such drugs.
