MADISON, Wis. (Legal Newsline) – NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre has joined other celebrities in supporting Judge Brad Schimel for the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
In a video posted online March 21 by Hunter Nation, Favre says “this is your time to do the right thing.”
“You must get out and vote April 1st for Judge Brad Schimel,” Favre said in the 30-second video posted on YouTube. “The future of Wisconsin is at stake here. This is as important as the November election, and that was for the soul of America. This is for the soul of Wisconsin.
“Your vote for Brad Schimel will keep Wisconsin and America winning. And you know I know a little bit of something about winning. When folks like you vote, America and Wisconsin wins.”
Favre also made another video for Hunter Nation urging Wisconsin voters to go to the polls or vote early for the April 1 election. He joins other celebrities and influences such as Donald Trump Jr. and Ted Nugent in endorsing Schimel on behalf of Hunter Nation.
Hunter Nation is a grassroots hunting advocacy organization, and it has launched a $1.8 million campaign to rally conservative hunters and gun rights advocates for Schimel. The group says Schimel will protect the rights of hunters and gun owners across the state.
Other Hunter Nation ads will feature the organization's founder Keith Mark, Nugent’s wife Shemane as well as some Wisconsin elected officials.
“Judge Schimel's commitment to upholding conservative values and protecting individual rights, particularly on the issues that matter most to Wisconsin hunters and gun owners, makes him the clear choice for Wisconsin,” Hunter Nation President and Founder Keith Mark has said. “Hunter Nation stands with Brad Schimel, and we encourage all hunters, sportsmen, and Patriots in the great state of Wisconsin to get out and vote for Judge Schimel on April 1st.”
Trump Jr. is a member of the Hunter Nation Foundation board.
“Hunter Nation is the special strike force of the center-right that has the proven ability to motivate a core demographic of conservative, patriotic voters. Wisconsin Hunters,” Trump Jr. said. “We are again counting on you to save our country by voting for Judge Brad Schimel and take back your Supreme Court. …
“With your vote, we can take the Wisconsin Supreme Court back from liberal control to one that will defend our traditional American values. … Hunters and gun owners, by voting in this April 1st election, will help to protect my dad's tireless work to return America to greatness."
Hunter Nation Chairman Rock Bordelon echoed those comments.
“It's an honor that we continue to defend God, our lifestyle and our Second Amendment rights,” he said. “This is about protecting our freedoms for generations to come. This Wisconsin Supreme Court election is as important as it gets.”
The conservative Schimel is running against liberal Susan Crawford. According to a March 9-10 poll, they are locked in a dead heat for the April 1 election. The winner will decide which side gets a 4-3 majority in Wisconsin, which does not assign political parties to judicial candidates.
The two candidates, both currently circuit judges (Schimel is a former state attorney general, too), tried to get their messages out during a March 12 debate. The race has drawn millions from groups outside of the state, including Elon Musk's America PAC.
