New York Attorney General Letitia James has issued a statement condemning President Trump's recent invocation of the Alien Enemies Act. According to Attorney General James, the use of this act is "bigoted, dangerous, and profoundly unjust." She emphasized that immigrants have played a crucial role in building the nation and deserve respect for their rights and dignity.

Attorney General James stated, "The Trump administration’s attacks on immigrants are causing fear and chaos, devastating families, and hurting local economies." She assured that her office will continue efforts to protect immigrant rights both in New York and nationwide.

Attorney General James has been active in defending vulnerable communities against what she perceives as unjust actions by the Trump administration. Recently, she led a coalition of attorneys general to support Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Venezuelans. In February, she secured a court order to uphold birthright citizenship following a lawsuit challenging an executive order by President Trump. Additionally, in January, she advocated for expanding TPS for Haitians and other communities affected by violence and catastrophes abroad.
