Attorney General Austin Knudsen has announced an updated version of Montana's Sexual and Violent Offender Registry (SVOR). This revision aims to provide residents with more comprehensive information about offenders in their vicinity. The registry, which previously listed only the home addresses of offenders, will now also include their work and school addresses.
The Sexual or Violent Offender Registration Act in Montana is intended to safeguard the public from sexual or violent offenders by mandating that they register with local law enforcement agencies where they live. This registry offers the public access to information about these offenders and maintains an up-to-date list of registered sexual and violent offenders.
Residents of Montana have the option to receive notifications when offenders relocate within specified zip codes, enhancing their ability to stay informed. They can also search the registry for relevant information.
"I encourage all Montanans to sign up for Sexual and Violent Offender Registry alerts to stay informed on the registrants living, working, and going to school in your area and help you make the best decisions for your families," stated Attorney General Knudsen.
