A Claremore man has been sentenced for robbery and assault charges in Indian Country. U.S. District Judge John D. Russell handed down a 78-month prison sentence to Teddy Lee Martin, aged 63, followed by three years of supervised release and a $6,000 restitution payment.

"Martin was a threat to our community, and behind bars is the best place for him," stated U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson. He highlighted the effective use of technology and collaboration between law enforcement and prosecutors that led to Martin's swift apprehension.

The incident occurred in August 2023 when Creek County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call in Sapulpa. An 85-year-old woman reported that a masked man, identified as Martin, had entered her home with a handgun, demanded money, and threatened her life. Martin stole jewelry and physically assaulted the victim before leaving.

Neighborhood surveillance and FLOCK cameras captured footage of Martin fleeing the scene in a vehicle. Tulsa Police officers later stopped the vehicle based on shared information from Creek County authorities. The search revealed some stolen jewelry, along with the mask and clothing seen in video footage.

Investigators identified Morgan Turley as the driver of the getaway vehicle. She pleaded guilty in State Court to conspiring with Martin to commit robbery and giving false identification to officers.

Martin, a Cherokee Nation citizen, will remain in custody until his transfer to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI, Creek County Sheriff’s Office, and Tulsa Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott Dunn prosecuted the case.
