A Clear Lake, Iowa man has pleaded guilty in federal court to charges related to the production and distribution of child pornography. David Bradley Garrison, 43, was convicted on counts of sexual exploitation of a child and distribution of child pornography.
During the plea hearing, Garrison confessed to sexually exploiting a child in July 2021 by creating visual depictions involving a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct. He further admitted to distributing such depictions between June 2021 and August 2021.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project utilizes resources from federal, state, and local levels to apprehend individuals involved in these crimes and rescue victims. Sentencing will occur before United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand after a presentence report is prepared. Garrison remains in custody pending sentencing. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years imprisonment, with a possible maximum sentence of 50 years, along with fines up to $500,000, special assessments totaling $95,200, and lifetime supervised release following imprisonment.
Assistant United States Attorneys Devra T. Hake and Dillan Edwards are prosecuting the case. The investigation involved multiple agencies including the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Iowa Department of Public Safety Division of Criminal Investigation, and Rockwell Police Department.
