A Concord man has been sentenced in federal court for drug and firearms offenses in New Hampshire. Wayne Smith, 49, received an 84-month prison sentence followed by three years of supervised release. This follows his guilty plea on November 25, 2025, to multiple charges including the distribution of methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl. Smith also faced charges for possessing a firearm and ammunition related to drug trafficking and as a prohibited person.

Acting U.S. Attorney Jay McCormack stated, "The defendant chose to arm himself with a gun in furtherance of his drug dealing." He added that the sentence should serve as a warning to others engaging in similar activities in New Hampshire.

Colonel Mark Hall of the New Hampshire State Police emphasized the ongoing commitment to combat illicit drugs: "Yesterday’s sentencing serves as a powerful reminder that our efforts to protect New Hampshire’s communities from the dangers of illicit drugs remain unwavering."

Smith's criminal activities included selling over 80 grams of methamphetamine between August 22, 2023, and September 6, 2023. He was arrested on September 12, 2023, while preparing for another sale. A subsequent search on September 14 led law enforcement to recover approximately 348 grams of methamphetamine, around 199 grams of fentanyl, a Ruger pistol, and ammunition.

The investigation was conducted by the New Hampshire State Police with Assistant United States Attorney Jeff Strelzin prosecuting the case.
