A Mexican national, Jorge Olivarria-Gomez, was sentenced to 18 months in prison followed by one year of supervised release for his involvement in a drug trafficking operation. The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Gloria M. Navarro in Las Vegas.

Court documents revealed that Olivarria-Gomez, aged 22, illegally entered the United States to work for a drug trafficking organization. He admitted to delivering 500 fentanyl pills on April 26, 2023, which he sold for $750.

The DEA Clark County Gang Task Force had been investigating Esteban Quezada, known as "Pelon," who led the drug operation from Mexico. Quezada organized the delivery of drugs from Mexico to U.S.-based associates, including those in Las Vegas. Couriers were sent from Nayrit, Mexico to distribute narcotics within the United States. Initially operating as a courier in Las Vegas, Olivarria-Gomez later moved to Colorado where he continued distributing narcotics.

In December 2024, Olivarria-Gomez pleaded guilty to distributing a controlled substance.

The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Sue Fahami for the District of Nevada and Assistant Special Agent in Charge Kevin Adams for the DEA Las Vegas District Office.

The case was investigated by the DEA and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Melanee Smith.
