Francisco Montalvo-Grenada, a 26-year-old Mexican citizen, has been sentenced to three years in prison for his involvement in an alien smuggling conspiracy. The sentencing was announced by Acting United States Attorney Daniel Hanlon and Chief Patrol Agent Robert N. Garcia of the United States Border Patrol's Swanton Sector.
Montalvo-Grenada previously pleaded guilty to charges stemming from an incident on May 15, 2023. He admitted to traveling from North Carolina to Northern New York with four co-conspirators and smuggling 16 Mexican citizens who had illegally entered the United States from Canada. After serving his sentence, Montalvo-Grenada will be deported to Mexico by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers.
The case was investigated by the United States Border Patrol and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Stitt.
