PaTricia A. Freeman, Daniel R. Fridrich, Kristen D. Mickey, Patrick R. Runge, and George A. Thompson have submitted their applications for the position of Court of Appeals Judge in Nebraska's Fourth Judicial District. This district covers parts of Douglas and Sarpy counties and the vacancy arises from Judge David K. Arterburn's retirement.

The Judicial Nominating Commission will conduct a public hearing to interview all candidates on March 20, 2025, at the Sarpy County Courthouse in Papillion, Nebraska. The session starts at 9:30 a.m., with an option for the public to view it via livestream through a provided link. However, if technical issues occur during the livestream, the physical hearing will continue without interruption.

Members of the public can submit written opinions or recommendations regarding any candidate before the commission makes its decision on filling the vacancy. Submissions can be mailed or emailed to ashley.jenkins@nejudicial.gov and are treated as confidential communications.

Details about the members of the Judicial Nominating Commission are available on the Nebraska Judicial Branch website. Special accommodations related to disabilities can be arranged by contacting Amy Prenda, ADA Coordinator.

Additionally, there are separate juvenile courts in specific counties and a statewide Workers’ Compensation Court.
