The Central Nebraska Adult Drug Court is set to celebrate the graduation of its participants on March 5, 2025. The ceremony will take place at the Hall County Courthouse in Grand Island, Nebraska, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Judge John Marsh will preside over the event.

This graduation marks the culmination of an intensive program for Problem-Solving Court graduates. Participants have completed comprehensive behavioral health treatment and undergone rigorous community supervision and accountability measures.

Problem-Solving Courts offer an alternative path through the criminal justice system for nonviolent drug-related offenders. These courts employ a specialized team process within the existing court framework. Their goal is to reduce recidivism and substance use among individuals with substance use disorders. By using validated risk and need assessments, early and individualized behavioral health treatment, frequent chemical testing, incentives, sanctions, and other services, these courts aim to enhance public safety and increase rehabilitation success rates.

Angela Smith, the Problem-Solving Court Coordinator, is available for interviews or additional information regarding the event. She can be contacted at (308) 385-6216.

Media credentials are preferred for those attending the ceremony. More details about Adult Drug Courts can be found on the Problem-Solving Court webpage of Nebraska's judicial system website.

The judicial power in Nebraska is distributed among various courts as outlined by the state constitution. All state courts operate under the administrative direction of the Supreme Court of Nebraska. In addition to constitutionally created courts, there are separate juvenile courts in Douglas, Lancaster, and Sarpy Counties as well as a statewide Workers’ Compensation Court.
