A federal felon from Gold Bar, Washington, has pleaded guilty to four federal felony charges related to drug and firearm offenses. Barry Tremain, 58, was under supervision for a 2012 conviction when he was apprehended in May 2024 with drugs and firearms on two separate occasions. Acting U.S. Attorney Teal Luthy Miller announced the guilty plea.

U.S. District Judge Jamal N. Whitehead is scheduled to sentence Tremain on May 22, 2025. According to case records, Snohomish County Sheriff's Deputies attempted to stop Tremain for a traffic violation on May 7, 2024. He tried to flee but was caught with methamphetamine, scales, $16,000 cash, a 9mm handgun, additional drugs including cocaine and fentanyl, and three cell phones.

Tremain was previously convicted in 2012 for drug and firearms crimes. On May 15, 2024, federal probation officers visited his residence where they found a .44 caliber revolver and more methamphetamine along with a drug ledger and over $10,000 in cash.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm. The drug-related charges could lead up to 40 years in prison while the firearm offenses carry potential sentences of up to 15 years.

The investigation involved the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Probation while Assistant United States Attorney Stephen Hobbs prosecuted the case.
