The Sarpy County Wellness Court is set to hold a graduation ceremony on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. The event will take place at the Sarpy County Courthouse located at 1210 Golden Gate Drive in Papillion, Nebraska. Presiding over the ceremony will be Judge Stefanie Martinez.

The graduation marks the completion of an intensive program for participants involved in problem-solving courts. These courts offer an alternative path through the criminal justice system for nonviolent offenders with drug-related charges. Participants undergo comprehensive behavioral health treatment and community supervision while being held fully accountable.

Problem-solving courts aim to reduce recidivism and substance use among individuals with substance use disorders. The approach includes validated risk and need assessments, early and individualized treatment, frequent chemical testing, and various incentives and sanctions to aid rehabilitation.

For further information or interviews regarding the event, Heather Moran, Problem-Solving Court Coordinator, can be contacted at (402) 593-2199 or via email at heather.moran@nejudicial.gov. Media credentials are preferred for court coverage.

The Nebraska judicial system operates under the administrative direction of the Supreme Court. In addition to constitutionally created courts such as the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, district courts, and county courts, Nebraska also has separate juvenile courts in Douglas, Lancaster, and Sarpy Counties as well as a statewide Workers’ Compensation Court.
