A federal grand jury has indicted a Mountainair resident on charges of domestic violence offenses in Indian Country. Court records indicate that Aiden Richesin, 20, allegedly assaulted a victim on or about September 18, 2023, causing substantial bodily harm. The indictment also claims that Richesin strangled and attempted to strangle the victim on the same date.
Richesin is currently held in third-party custody while awaiting trial, which has yet to be scheduled. If found guilty, he could face a prison sentence of up to ten years.
The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Alexander M.M. Uballez. The investigation was conducted by the Pueblo of Isleta Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert James Booth II handling the prosecution.
It is important to note that an indictment is only an allegation and all defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
