Judicial nominating commission sets February hearing for judge vacancy in Nebraska

The Judicial Nominating Commission for the County Court in the Fourth Judicial District is set to conduct a public hearing on February 21, 2025. The hearing will take place at 10:00 a.m. CST in District Courtroom #506 of the Douglas County Courthouse, located at 1701 Farnam Street, Omaha, Nebraska. Supreme Court Justice Stephanie F. Stacy announced that the commission will evaluate candidates' qualifications for the County Court Judge position left vacant by Judge Jeffrey L. Marcuzzo's retirement.

Interested individuals can access a Judicial Vacancy Application package from the Nebraska Judicial Branch website. Completed applications must be submitted by January 31, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. CST either electronically to nsc.jnc@nejudicial.gov or via hard copy mailed to the specified address in the application package. Applicants are advised to ensure timely delivery as extensions will not be granted for missed deadlines.

Following the application deadline, a public notice will be issued listing candidates and detailing how to provide testimony or submit information to the commission during the hearing.
