The Judicial Nominating Commission for the Seventh Judicial District will conduct a public hearing on March 14, 2025, at the Madison County Courthouse in Nebraska. The hearing is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. CST in Courtroom #1 and aims to evaluate candidates for the District Court Judge position following Judge Mark A. Johnson's retirement. The vacancy is primarily based in Madison, Madison County.

Supreme Court Justice John R. Freudenberg announced that individuals interested in applying can obtain an application package from the Nebraska Judicial Branch website. Applications must be submitted by February 13, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. CST, either electronically or by mail as specified in the application package. Candidates are advised to ensure timely delivery since late applications will not be considered.

Applications should include email addresses for all persons identified in questions 25, 26, and 27 of the Personal Data Sheet. Incorrectly addressed emails may not reach their destination and might not trigger an error notification.

After the deadline, a public notice will list candidates and provide details on submitting testimony or information to the commission during the hearing.

A complete list of commission members is available on the Nebraska Judicial Branch website.
