United States Attorney Jason M. Frierson will resign from his position on January 17, 2025. Frierson has been serving since May 2022 after being nominated by President Joseph R. Biden on November 15, 2021, and confirmed by the United States Senate on April 27, 2022. He is noted as the first African American to hold this role in the District of Nevada.

During his tenure, Frierson led a team of over 100 prosecutors and staff professionals across offices in Las Vegas and Reno. His additional responsibilities included serving on the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee’s Subcommittees on Voting Rights and Native American Issues.

In a statement, Frierson expressed gratitude for his time in office: “It has been the honor of my lifetime to serve as United States Attorney for the District of Nevada. I thank President Biden for nominating me and am grateful to Senator Catherine Cortez-Masto and Senator Jacky Rosen for their support and confidence in me to lead our team of dedicated public servants to carry out the Justice Department’s mission."

He emphasized the importance of integrity, respect, compassion, and excellence within his team while working to make Nevada safer by focusing on issues such as gun control, drug trafficking, and violent crime reduction. Frierson also highlighted efforts to strengthen relationships with local organizations and law enforcement.

“I look forward to seeing the continued success and courageous work ahead for the Office,” he concluded.
