Gabriel Beltran-Lopez, a 38-year-old from Sinaloa, Mexico, was sentenced to 60 months in federal prison for methamphetamine possession. The sentence was handed down by Chief United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr. in Omaha, Nebraska on November 25, 2024. Following his prison term, Beltran-Lopez will undergo five years of supervised release.
The case began on May 8, 2021, when a York County Sheriff's Office deputy stopped Beltran-Lopez for a traffic violation. During the stop, he consented to a vehicle search which uncovered 27 pounds of pure methamphetamine. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) took part in the investigation and replaced Beltran-Lopez with an undercover agent as the driver of the vehicle.
The undercover operation led to Omaha where Jose Hernandez-Gomez exchanged $6,000 for the meth at an address found in the vehicle. Hernandez-Gomez was subsequently arrested and later sentenced on August 18, 2023, to serve 135 months in prison.
The investigation involved collaboration between the York County Sheriff’s Office, DEA, and Omaha Police Department.
