The Office of Public Guardian has released its 2024 Annual Report, detailing the individuals served and programs offered through the Nebraska Judicial Branch. The report provides data on the number of individuals served, types of guardianship and conservatorship cases, the capacity to serve, and the status of its waiting list. It includes examples of how guardianship can protect rights with less restrictive alternatives.
The report aims to highlight the experiences of some of Nebraska’s most vulnerable citizens. Interested readers can access the full report on the Nebraska Judicial Branch website.
According to Nebraska Revised Statute § 30-4111, the Office is required to report annually to the Chief Justice and Legislature by January 1st. This marks the ninth annual report from the Office, covering November 1, 2023, through October 31, 2024.
The State of Nebraska's judicial power is distributed among several courts: Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, district courts, and county courts. All operate under the Supreme Court's administrative direction. Additionally, there are separate juvenile courts in Douglas, Lancaster, and Sarpy Counties and a statewide Workers’ Compensation Court.
