The Colorado Judicial Branch has announced the appointment of Elizabeth "Liz" Lembo as the new Executive Director of the Colorado Lawyer Assistance Program (COLAP). The program focuses on promoting well-being, resiliency, and competency within Colorado's legal community.
COLAP addresses behavioral health concerns such as mental health challenges, substance use, and addiction issues. It has supported legal professionals for over a decade by fostering healthier practices, providing education and consultation, and connecting individuals with support referrals.
Lembo is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Addiction Counselor. She holds a Master of Science in Counseling and is expected to complete her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision in Spring 2025. Currently serving as a clinical coordinator at COLAP, Lembo assists legal professionals with behavioral health issues. Her role also includes acting as a treatment provider liaison and publications liaison, responsible for content creation and editing of COLAP materials. Her clinical experience encompasses evidence-based treatment for various behavioral health issues including substance use, PTSD, mood disorders, and anxiety disorders.
Chief Justice Monica M. Marquez commented on Lembo's appointment: "COLAP's work is critical in caring and supporting the health and success of our legal community. Connecting the legal community with supportive mental health services ensures a stronger legal system for all Coloradans," she said. "Liz brings exceptional leadership and a deep commitment to promoting well-being within our profession that will advance COLAP's mission."
COLAP continues to offer free and confidential assistance to lawyers, judges, and law students across Colorado. More information can be found at coloradolap.org.
