Judicial commission nominates three candidates for district court judgeship

The Eighteenth Judicial District Nominating Commission has put forward three candidates for a district court judgeship following the retirement of Judge Gary Kramer. The vacancy will become effective on August 3, 2024. The nominees, Matthew Phillip Schoettle and Donna M. Stewart from Castle Rock, along with Daniel Wilson Warhola from Franktown, were chosen during a meeting held on June 25, 2024, at the Arapahoe County Combined Courts in Centennial.

According to the Colorado Constitution, the governor is allotted a period of 15 days starting from June 26, 2024, to appoint one of these nominees as a district court judge for the Eighteenth Judicial District which includes Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert and Lincoln counties.
