Baltimore City District Court is set to showcase the artwork of 19 student finalists at the upcoming Courting Art Baltimore awards reception. This event, marking its fourth year, will take place on Wednesday, May 15. The theme for this year's contest is "Uplift Baltimore," featuring creative pieces from high school students across ten Baltimore City Public Schools.
The competition offers $20,000 in scholarships to the top five contestants, which can be used towards art programs or post-high school education. The first-place winner will receive a scholarship of $7,500. Finalists will have their artwork displayed long-term at the Eastside District Court Building.
Courting Art Baltimore aims to promote youth and their artistic talents while connecting the legal community with local neighborhoods. It also seeks to alleviate stress and anxiety for courthouse visitors by enhancing the environment with art.
