Approximately 25 participants of the Baltimore City District Court Re-Entry Project (DCREP) will be honored for completing the program on Friday, April 12. The ceremony will be led by District Judge Nicole Pastore-Klein.
Judge Pastore-Klein initiated the DCREP in 2016 as a criminal recidivism initiative. It offers defendants an opportunity to engage in full-time job training and placement programs as part of their probation or instead of incarceration. Since its inception, about 123 participants have completed the program.
The event will feature family, friends, judges, and prosecutors supporting the graduates. Matthew Judon, a linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens, is set to deliver the keynote address. Judon is in his fourth season with the Ravens after attending Grand Valley State.
Scheduled attendees include Baltimore City District Judge Nicole Pastore-Klein and Baltimore City District Administrative Judge Barbara Baer Waxman. The graduation ceremony will take place at Baltimore City District Court's Eastside Building in Courtroom 7 at 11:30 a.m.
For those interested in attending or seeking more information about the event, contact Maryland Judiciary’s Division of Government Relations and Public Affairs via email or phone. Cameras are prohibited inside the courtroom during the ceremony; however, media interviews can occur outside in the hallway. Interviews with Judge Pastore-Klein are available from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and consent should be obtained before photographing any individuals.
