The District Court in Dorchester County is set to hold a ceremony on Wednesday, June 13, at 11 a.m. to celebrate the grand opening of the Regional Veterans Treatment Court. This new court will serve veterans involved with the justice system in Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester counties by providing treatment, accountability, and mentoring while helping them access benefits they have earned.
The event will feature several notable figures including Chief Judge Mary Ellen Barbera from the Court of Appeals of Maryland, Chief Judge John P. Morrissey from the District Court of Maryland, Judge Melvin J. Jews who is the presiding judge for this regional veterans treatment court in Dorchester County, as well as Judge Brett W. Wilson and Senior Judge Raymond E. Beck Sr., both from the Dorchester County Circuit Court.
The ceremony will be held at the Dorchester County District Court located at 310 Gay St., Cambridge, Md. Attendees are requested to contact the Maryland Judiciary’s Government Relations and Public Affairs Division via email if they plan to attend or have any questions regarding the event. It is also noted that prior approval is required for camera use during the event and consent should be obtained from all individuals being photographed.
