Honorable Angela M. Eaves Justice | Ballotpedia

The Maryland Judiciary has alerted the public to a phishing scam targeting attorneys across multiple states. The fraudulent emails are sent with the subject line "The Office of The State Attorney Complaint." It is important to note that no such office exists.

Recipients are advised not to reply, click on links, or open attachments in these emails. Such scams can install malware on devices, extract sensitive information, provide hackers with remote access, and send malicious links to email contacts.

Courts do not reach out via phone or email to request payments or personal information. They also do not accept credit card or PayPal payments through these channels. For any queries regarding court communications, individuals should directly contact the court using details from the Maryland Judiciary’s directory.

Victims of this scam are encouraged to report incidents to the Office of the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division at 410-528-8662 or toll-free at 888-743-0023, as well as notify local law enforcement authorities.
