Pre-trial proceedings for the case of State of Maryland v. Brian Rice are set to commence on July 5, 2016. The proceedings will begin with a motions hearing where pending motions may be addressed before jury selection starts the following day.
The Honorable Barry G. Williams will preside over the case. The motions hearing is scheduled for July 5 at 9:30 a.m. in Courthouse East, located at the Circuit Court for Baltimore City, while jury selection will take place on July 6 at the Clarence M. Mitchell, Jr. Courthouse.
Media representatives are advised that seating is limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Those who registered for previous trials related to this case do not need to register again. Media must arrive by 8 a.m. to secure their seats.
Overflow seating with live audio/video feeds will be available when possible, but electronic devices are prohibited inside courtrooms and overflow rooms. Photography and videography are also banned within courthouse premises.
Designated media rooms will allow the use of electronic devices, though interviews must occur outside courthouses. No Wi-Fi is provided; media should bring their own connection devices.
Parking restrictions around courthouses will be enforced strictly, with a staging area for media trucks designated at City Hall Plaza.
Media representatives should familiarize themselves with various Security/Media Protocol Orders and Maryland Judiciary’s policies regarding electronic devices in court facilities.
