The Anne Arundel County District Court is set to hold a graduation ceremony for its Drug and DUI Treatment Court on May 30. The event will see several individuals celebrating their achievements alongside family and friends. The media has been invited to attend the ceremony.
This program combines judicial oversight with intensive treatment and supervision. Judge Thomas Pryal will oversee the graduation, while Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman and Dr. Jinlene Chan, acting health officer for the Anne Arundel County Health Department, are scheduled to deliver keynote addresses. Theodore Brown will serve as the graduate guest speaker.
Maryland initiated its first drug treatment court in Baltimore in 1984, leading to the establishment of over 40 similar courts across the state. The Anne Arundel County's program started in 1996, with an extension for DUI infractions added in 2005.
The event marks another milestone for the participants who have successfully completed this demanding program under judicial supervision.
