The Yankton County Drug Court was founded in 2013, with the DUI Court added in 2019. Their mission focuses on reducing crime and societal issues linked to substance dependence through targeted treatment, supervision, and judicial intervention.

Treatment courts are noted for effectively addressing substance use and mental health disorders while decreasing recidivism rates and saving taxpayer money. These courts demonstrate that combining supervision, treatment, and support can guide individuals toward stable lives marked by wellness and recovery.
