Judge Kimberly Lund has been appointed to the 19th Judicial District Chancery Court, marking a new chapter in her legal career. The court serves both Montgomery and Robertson counties, and Judge Lund expressed enthusiasm about working locally.
"I'm excited to work in the county where I live. I haven't had that experience, so I'm looking forward to serving those folks," she stated.
Judge Lund was sworn into office twice due to the dual-county jurisdiction of the court. "We had the first one on September 13 in Robertson County and Judge [William] Goodman did that swearing-in for me," she explained. The second ceremony took place on September 16 in Montgomery County, also conducted by Judge Goodman.
Her journey as a judge began swiftly, with her first cases heard just four days after taking office. "I'm just ready to get going and see what this new adventure looks like," she said.
Judge Lund's ambition to become a judge has been longstanding. "I never had any wavering on what I wanted to do, all the way through school," she noted. Inspired partly by watching the legal drama Matlock as a child, she always viewed becoming a judge as a significant honor.
Before her appointment, Judge Lund served as an assistant district attorney for the 19th judicial district. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky and earned her juris doctor at Michigan State University College of Law.
"I would like to think that I will take wisdom from everyone around me," she mentioned, emphasizing her intent to learn from experienced judges and attorneys in both counties.
