Thérèse S. "Tee" Barnes has been reappointed for another six-year term as Clerk and Court Executive of the Supreme Court of Georgia, with her new term beginning on August 1, 2024. Barnes has held the position since 2006.

Barnes is a graduate of Mercer University School of Law, class of 1981. Following her graduation, she practiced civil business litigation and later served as a staff attorney to former Justices Carol W. Hunstein and Harold D. Melton before her initial appointment as Clerk.

In her role as Clerk and Court Executive, Barnes manages the office responsible for maintaining case files and tracking cases through the Supreme Court. She collaborates closely with the Chief Justice and other Justices on various administrative tasks.

Chief Justice Michael P. Boggs stated, “On behalf of the Court, I would like to express our appreciation for Mrs. Barnes’ years of dedication to ensuring the efficiency of our Court’s operations and the highest standards of public service.” He added, “We are so fortunate that she will continue in this role for another term.”

Barnes was recognized by the St. Thomas More Society of Atlanta in October 2023 for her commitment to public service and leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, she received the Outstanding Alumna Award from Mercer University School of Law in February 2023.
