The Justices of the Supreme Judicial Court have announced an invitation for applications to join the Standing Committee on Pro Bono Legal Services. The Committee anticipates multiple openings for appointment, with membership terms typically lasting three years and the possibility of reappointment for a second term.
The Justices are seeking volunteer applicants from diverse backgrounds across the Commonwealth who are committed to improving the justice system. Additionally, the Committee administers the Pro Bono Honor Roll, collaborates with law schools, bar associations, and community organizations to promote pro bono work, and considers rule changes and initiatives to facilitate pro bono practice by attorneys and law students.
Interested applicants should submit a résumé and a letter detailing their experience and interest in serving on the Committee by Friday, September 27, 2024. Submissions can be sent via email to Chip Phinney, Chief Counsel for Judicial Policy at Chip.Phinney@jud.state.ma.us or by mail to Chip Phinney at the Supreme Judicial Court, John Adams Courthouse, One Pemberton Square, Boston, MA 02108.
