LOWELL, Mass. (Legal Newsline) - Hosting a parkour class for 50-somethings has resulted in a lawsuit against a Massachusetts company.

The class was offered by the Town of Arlington, targeted individuals more than 50 years old and was held local high school's gym. Instructors from Making The Jump, also known as Parkour Generations Boston, were brought in.

Plaintiff Eleanor Rich filed a lawsuit Jan. 27 in Middlesex County Superior Court that alleged in January 2019, she attended the class but was injured when a steel pipe struck her on the right heel.

She was walking backwards through a steel pipe obstacle course but without a spotter, the suit says. She fell, suffered a severe left wrist fracture and had to undergo surgery, the suit says.

"The Plaintiff, who lives alone, did not have adequate help while she was recovering from her surgery and suffered months of diminished quality of life that continues," the suit says.

The defendant is charged with negligence and failure to warn. Rich is represented by Lisa McGloin of Capano & McGloin of Lynn.
