Mesa County Court announces judicial vacancy due to new district court appointment
The Twenty-first Judicial District Nominating Commission has announced a vacancy in the Mesa County Court. The commission will convene on June 24, 2024, at the Mesa County Justice Center to interview and select nominees for the position of county judge. The appointment will be made by the governor.

Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall has filed a lawsuit challenging a new rule by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The rule redefines the Affordable Care Act’s prohibition against discrimination on the basis of "sex" to include "gender identity." If implemented, it would require medical providers to perform surgeries and administer hormone drugs for gender transition to both children and adults, irrespective of a doctor's medical judgment.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration forecasts a range of 17 to 25 total named storms, with eight to 13 expected to become hurricanes.
