Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson has announced charges against Rossel Geovanny Recinos Arita, a 30-year-old native of Honduras. Recinos Arita was charged on May 12, 2025, with reentry of a removed alien, violating Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a).

Court documents reveal that Recinos Arita was found in St. Tammany Parish around February 24, 2025. He had previously been deported to Honduras on June 19, 2018.

If convicted, Recinos Arita could face up to two years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, one year of supervised release, and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.

Simpson emphasized that the bill of information is only a charge and that guilt must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America. The initiative aims to combat illegal immigration and dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime. It combines efforts from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).

Simpson commended U.S. Customs and Border Protection for their investigation work. Assistant United States Attorney Paul J. Hubbell from the General Crimes Unit is handling the prosecution.
