United States Attorney David Metcalf has announced the arrest and indictment of two Philadelphia residents, Kysem Humphrey, 19, and Jayquan Jett, 18. The charges stem from an incident on December 17, 2024, where the two individuals allegedly boarded a SEPTA bus carrying firearms modified to function as fully automatic weapons.

The Philadelphia Police Department conducted the initial investigation, uncovering the concealed weapons under the defendants' clothing. The case was further investigated by SEPTA Transit Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Special Assistant United States Attorney Meagan Gordon is leading the prosecution.

If found guilty, Humphrey and Jett could each face a maximum sentence of up to ten years in prison. However, it is important to note that these charges are accusations at this stage. "Every defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty in court," as stated in the announcement.
