A Madison County man has been indicted on multiple charges related to child sexual exploitation, as announced by U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona. The indictment was filed in the U.S. District Court against John Justin McCall, 53, of Madison, Alabama.

McCall faces four counts of sexual exploitation of children and one count of possession of child pornography. According to the indictment, between May 2023 and October 2023, McCall allegedly coerced and enticed minor children into engaging in sexually explicit conduct for producing child pornography and possessed such material. He has previous convictions for criminal sexual abuse in Illinois.

The investigation involved Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Huntsville, Lamar County Sheriff’s Office in Paris, Texas, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Huntsville Police Department, and Madison Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney R. Leann White is prosecuting the case.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood coordinates federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals exploiting children via the Internet while identifying and rescuing victims.

An indictment contains only charges; a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
