A Guatemalan national, Nicolas Joaquin Celestino-Gonzalez, has been sentenced for illegally reentering the United States after having been deported twice before. The sentencing took place in Mobile, Alabama.

Court documents reveal that Celestino-Gonzalez, aged 34, was arrested by the Saraland Police Department during a traffic stop on March 23, 2025. Following his arrest, the U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) confirmed that he had previously been removed from the United States in both 2018 and 2019.

Chief United States District Judge Jeffrey U. Beaverstock sentenced Celestino-Gonzalez to time served and imposed a one-year term of supervised release upon his future release. Since his arrest on March 23, he had remained in custody. Post-release, Celestino-Gonzalez will be referred to immigration officials for deportation proceedings and is required to pay $100 in special assessments.

The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Sean P. Costello of the Southern District of Alabama. The case was investigated by the U.S. Border Patrol and the Saraland Police Department.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin Roller prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.

This case falls under Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime perpetrators.
