Hassan Omar Kassim and Alexandra Brooke Wisdom, both 19 and residents of Tucson, Arizona, were arrested on May 6, 2025. They face charges for possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, aiding and abetting, and conspiracy to commit the same offense.
The incident leading to their arrest occurred on April 20, 2025. A Tucson Police Department officer from the Operations Division West Community Response Team was conducting operations near Stone Avenue and Fort Lowell in Tucson. The officer observed a dark-colored car speeding southbound and followed it in an unmarked vehicle. The vehicle's license plate number was broadcasted to other team members. During this pursuit, an individual leaned out of the rear passenger window and fired at the officer's vehicle. Despite being shot at multiple times during a U-turn maneuver by the suspects, the officer remained unharmed.
A marked patrol unit attempted to stop the vehicle but lost sight after a brief chase. Subsequent investigations identified Kassim as one of the car's occupants during the shooting. It was also determined that Wisdom was present before and after the shooting and had driven and abandoned the vehicle after evading police.
The National Public Safety Partnership (PSP), initiated by the U.S. Department of Justice, aims to enhance federal support for local law enforcement through coordinated training and resources to improve public safety strategies. PSP has collaborated with over 60 sites since its inception.
It is important to note that a criminal complaint is merely a formal charge without any inference of guilt. Individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
The investigation was conducted by the Tucson Police Department alongside the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Adam D. Rossi from the District of Arizona is prosecuting this case.
