Alante Partlow, a 30-year-old resident of the District, has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for a shooting incident that injured a 5-year-old child and an adult in April 2024. The sentencing was announced by U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin Jr. and Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department.
Partlow had entered a guilty plea on October 18, 2024, to two counts of aggravated assault while armed and one count of possession of a firearm during a crime of violence. Superior Court Judge Robert Okun also imposed five years of supervised release following the prison term.
The incident occurred on April 23, 2024, at approximately 11:20 p.m., when the adult victim and the child were leaving an apartment building in Fort Totten after an argument between the adult and Partlow. According to evidence agreed upon by Partlow, he followed them outside and fired multiple shots at the adult victim, who attempted to protect the child but sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The child was also injured.
U.S. Attorney Martin and Chief Smith commended the investigative efforts by members of the Metropolitan Police Department and personnel from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. They also recognized Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Roberts for prosecuting the case.
This case is part of President Donald J. Trump’s Make DC Safe and Beautiful Executive Order, which aims to reduce crime, enhance public safety, and restore pride in Washington D.C., through coordinated federal efforts including targeted enforcement and strategic partnerships.
